What size would I wear? We sell wigs from several manufacturers and most of them are average. There is an adjustment on the nape to tighten or loosen the wig. Many people like to wear the wig looser than normal so that it is more comfortable. To keep the wig from moving, toupee clips can be sewn in. Or if there is no hair on the head to clip to, toupee tape can secure the piece.

Custom made Real hair wigs and Human hairpieces are measured to fit your head precisely, they will still have an amount of adjustment to allow you to determine the most comfortable position. As with our acrylic wig ranges all of our real human hair wigs can have clips or tape added for additional security.

JUST WONDERING WHAT AVERAGE SIZE IT IS. COMPARED TO WHAT?

There are basically 3 sizes of wigs: Large, Average, and Petite. All the wigs are adjustable, so average is a one size fits most type of size. It will fit anyone except unusually large or small heads. The best way to judge your size is to compare it to buying a hat.

HOW DO I PUT ON A WIG?

We have a clip available on the web site and a DVD available with a step-by-step guide for you to look your best. If you do not put it on correctly, it may not seem to fit, or it might feel awkward or uncomfortable. Sometimes we find that people don’t pull them all the way down in the back or they pull them too far down in the front, or sit them on top of their head–like they are wearing a hat–which isn’t the correct way to put them on. DO I HAVE TO STYLE THEM?

Synthetic wigs are all pre-styled so that all you need to do is just shake them out and finger comb them through, a spritz with our spray conditioner really brings the wig to life and allows you to finger style the wig and gives a natural look and finish. Our real human hair wigs however are set on rollers at the factory, they are not styled here in our salon. The style that you see in our Purely wigs brochure will be as close as possible to the human hair wig that you will receive. If you were to choose a Real Hair custom made wig then the styling is carried out during the making of the wig and finished here with our specially trained hairdressing team.

With synthetic wigs the style stays even after you wash it, 100% human hair wigs will need to be re-set or styled just as you would with your natural hair.

WHAT IS A SKIN TOP?

A skin top is a plastic looking scalp somewhat like a doll’s head, but more flexible. Some are partial and have partings already made into the skin top that cannot be changed. Some are full skin tops and can be parted anywhere.

WHAT IS A MONOFILAMENT-TOP?

Mono-top wigs are made of a thin silky transparent fabric with hairs individually tied into it, making it look very natural and realistic. This can be parted in any direction and is far more adaptable.

HOW LONG WILL MY WIG LAST?

A wig can last for a few months right up to several years. Just like shoes, it depends on how well you treat them, and how often you wear them. On average a synthetic wig will last between 3 – 6 months with constant wear. Human Hair wigs will last on average up to 12 months. To prolong the life of your synthetic or real hair wig it is essential to use the correct products on them, we have a custom made range that will work with your wig and will ensure that it stays looking great for the longest possible time.
