About wig base types

Below is a list of wig base types with a guide to the qualities of each.

Wefted base

Rows of fibre are joined together in the shape of a cap using elasticised strips. This is standard for our modern wigs and makes them easy to wear, comfortable and breathable. Soft velvet at front, nape and ear tabs enhances the comfort and Velcro tapes ensure a secure custom fit.

Monofilament base

A fine mesh that fibre or hair is hand-tied onto to give the appearance that the hair or fibre is growing from your own scalp. Some wigs include a monofilament top, parting or crown on a wefted of hand-tied base.

Each strand of fibre or hair is individually hand threaded onto a very fine, lightweight lace base. This base gives the most realistic movement to the fibre and hair and looks just like the hair or fibre is growing from your own scalp.

Lace front base

Lace Front

A fine lace added to the front of the wig to give a natural looking hairline.
